MAGDALENA TUL, "Rediscovered You"

The tracking may not have been intentional, but Magdalena Tul’s decision on her EP Signature of Soul to follow the exuberant self-empowering “Face The Day” with the soothing yet soaring, unabashedly romantic and lovestruck “Rediscovered You” sends a unique message to listeners.

Perhaps only after overcoming the limitations of one’s own self-doubts and lack of confidence and learning to joyfully embrace life as it is can we open up to discovering, and in this case, rediscovering love.

Dreamy, lyrical and caressing yet also wildly sensual and sexy, it’s a mid-tempo pop delight that captures all the optimism and exciting emotional movement of fresh new love, starting with the Polish singer’s opening lines: “I want to fly with you to distant lands/I want to lie with you on desert sands.”

And just when we think the overall expression is that she’s traveled the world to find her one true love, she charms us with a fascinating, heart-tugging curveball that draws us in closer. What she truly has discovered is that, as per the title, she’s “Rediscovered You.” As if she’s been in love all along but perhaps took some things for granted, and now that she’s returned from some time away, realizes that this guy is the one and there are even more wonderful things to know about him. This kind of sheer heartfelt optimism is a wonder to behold.
